This wrongful death action is before us for the second time. On the first appeal, we announced our adoption of the doctrine of comparative negligence as the law of this state, and remanded so the superior court could apply that doctrine to the facts of this case. Kaatz v. State, 540 P.2d 1037 (Alaska 1975). While we conclude on this appeal that the trial courts application of the comparative negligence doctrine was correct, we must remand again because the superior court did not conduct a new trial on the issue of damages as directed in our prior mandate.
